SSS Fitness Fest just happened, and what an event it was! Over the weekend of the 4th and 5th of November, Dubai’s fitness fans piled into the festival space at SkyDive Dubai for a weekend of sports, fitness and healthy living. The two-day festival saw non-stop sports events, from Zumba and Les Mills, to calisthenics and belly dancing. There were healthy food stalls and smoothie stands aplenty, and the feel good vibes were totally infectious, as everyone got involved in the fun, energetic spirit that filled the venue. This really was an event for everyone – no matter what age or level of fitness, SSS Fitness Fest had a little something for everyone.
Not only was this festival a fun event, it was also incredibly educational and motivational, with fitness coaches at every corner, and so many inspirational stories to hear from people from all walks of life. The Inspiration Stage provided a space for discussion and insight into many different experiences of sport and fitness, and The Healthy Living Show was packed with advice and ideas on how to eat clean and maintain a healthy lifestyle day in, day out. Then there was the Main Stage which brought in the fitness masses with intensive workouts from Les Mills and a special HIIT class from Joe Wicks himself.
The SSS stand was abuzz all weekend long, with sports personalities and fitness fiends checking out what Sun & Sand Sports had to offer – trying out our RunRight gait analysis feature, and personalisation zone, which enabled customers to fully customise their gear. Joe Wicks made a very welcomed appearance at our stand, and a long line of excited fans quickly formed as people waitied eagerly to have their photo taken with The Body Coach. We also had a visit from the Strong Men – bringing some serious muscle to the stand, and speaking of muscle – the ladies from Pole Fit Dubai showed us their skills on Saturday – very impressive indeed.
We took a tour round the festival space with Personal Trainer, Rick Bhullar @rickbullarfitness to get the lowdown on everything Fitness Fest. We started off at the Engine Gym stand where Rick had a full body analysis done. After quite an educational start, we then hit the belly dancing portion of the day, with Rick showing us a move or two – much to our surprise, and entertainment.
Gate crashing the Les Mills class at the Main Stage, Rick dropped into the sequence for a bit of Body Combat action, then caught up with Coach Mike @coachmikedubai, before moving on to the ropes challenge, cheered on by the supporting crowd. As we continued through the sea of stalls and sporty paraphernalia, Rick checked out the Fitbit stand for some tracking advice from the experts, moving swiftly on to the calisthenics bars and the TRX zone.
We then headed to the Strong Man competition as the world’s strongest men battled it out for top spot on the leaderboard, moving on to the karate mats to get in on the action. On our way back round we checked out the Inspiration Stage and learned a thing or two about sea expeditions and how to survive on a boat for weeks on end – always good to know! Rounding off our SSS Fitness Fest tour at the Sun & Sand Sports stand, Rick had a go of the rowing challenge – putting his marks firmly on the board with all the other participants.
