Our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter feeds are constantly flooded with some of the most scrumptious smoothie recipes, and they’re even harder to resist if they’re packed with just the right amount of nutrients, vitamins and minerals to get your heart and feet pumping.
But with so many healthy diets and smoothie recipes out there, it can be hard to make just one choice, so we turned to our very own fitness guru: @dubaifitfoodie Gbemi Giwa who let us in on her secrets to round-the-clock fitness.
The last thing you want to do after a good run is to consume an oversized portion of food, so banana and dates are the perfect combination for replenishing the muscles and recharging your stamina. As one of the best pre-running snacks, dates are filled with macronutrients, which are perfect for long runs. The glycogen stored in the muscles depletes after a good long distance run; however, eating bananas will restore and balance the glycogen level to keep you energised and on the move.
