Leading up to Nike Air Max Day on March 26, the Swoosh brand honours the legendary shoe with a series of releases from its 30th anniversary collection. Adding to the fanfare is the recent release of the Nike Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0 Flyknit Shoe. That’s right, the Air Max Flyknit family just got bigger and fresher with the entry of this new hybrid that ticks all the boxes of a great athletic-meets-aesthetic shoe.
The first ever Air Max Flyknit was introduced in 2014, breaking the footwear mould by integrating seamless woven yarns to Tinker Hatfield’s iconic Air Max concept. This gave birth to different iterations including the Air Max 1 Ultra Flyknit with its lighter-than-ever construction. But like most great things, it must be continuously improved and its successor, the Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0 Flyknit, gets a slight yet significant upgrade of an even lighter mesh upper for supreme breathable comfort.
The focal point of this shoe is the game-changing Flyknit technology. Originally engineered for runners, the lightweight and streamlined look provide flexible and stable movements. This pliable fabrication provides a comfortable foothold that you can take for a run or around town. Add in the Air Max system defined by its visible Air Sole heel unit and the dual-density foam midsole underfoot, the Ultra 2.0 Flyknit delivers the ultimate cushioning any sneaker fan can ask for.
It pays tribute to the simple and smooth silhouette of the original Air Max, and is improved with reflective Nike Swoosh on the side, a mudguard around the seamless structure for enhanced durability, and it now comes in even bolder colourways. This one has been draped with an “Ocean Fog” pale blue shade with black accents, which brilliantly complements that light as air feeling.
