Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women today. And every October is dedicated to raising more awareness about the disease, encouraging women to get checked, as well as encouraging everyone to show support in little or big ways. Sun & Sand Sports supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month by promoting healthy and active living through a range of fitness and athletic products for all genders and ages. SSS ambassador and trainer Dina Taji Al Farouki proudly wears pink in support of “Pinktober” and shows how fitness can help to fight cancer.
Reduce the risk with the three Es:
Early detection
There are plenty of local hospitals, organisations and venues that offer mammography services, free breast examinations and consultations. Women and men are also advised to perform regular breast self-examinations to check for lumps or unusual changes.
Education
A better understanding can help to dispel misconceptions and stigmas about the disease; talk to health professionals or credible support groups. Sharing the right information can help people identify symptoms, understand the treatment and know how to support patients and survivors.
Exercise
Regular exercise combined with the proper diet is key to overall health. Physical activity boosts the immune system, balances out hormone levels and improves our way of life in the long-term. Participate in local “pink” events, including races, wellness days, yoga sessions and more – and show your support for furthering breast cancer research and awareness.
