Shopping for running shoes just got a little more exciting with the launch of the all new Nike Air VaporMax Shoe line. Since its release early this year, the original iteration of the VaporMax had everyone praising the full-length Air sole and Flyknit upper. Now, the Nike team has raised the shoe stakes a little higher by updating the VaporMax with lightweight mesh and synthetic leather overlays. Let’s take a look at the upgraded running shoe of the future.
The previous Flyknit version is top quality and lightweight, but the midfoot-to-heel overlays of the current VaporMax add more protection. The smooth mesh upper with reinforced toe box provides a flexible feel with a more structured support. This version is caged and has reflective panelling for a good foot lockdown. It comes with a solid heel counter and ankle collar for support. On closer inspection, the glossy Swoosh mark is more prominent and has a touch of speckling on the sides. There are smaller Swooshes on the tongue and heel.
Just pure Air bladders for the outsole. It sounds crazy, but what is Nike if not a forward-thinking brand? Without the bulk of a foam layer or rubber, the Air sole is lighter and more flexible. With the upper directly above the Air sole, expect springy cushioning, great energy response and impact protection whether running or just taking a walk. Nike is also playing with different palettes, and as an alternative to the white translucent ones, they released VaporMax in coloured Air soles.
Sun & Sand Sports and Nike present the VaporMax in shades of black and blue. The colder season calls for deep colours, and we have a selection blanketed in Midnight Fog, Anthracite, Photo Blue and more with tonal flat laces for that day-to-evening look.
