Everyone has their own running style, and each their own reason for running and no matter your story, 2017 was a great year for the sport with big shoe releases to support every runner’s goals. It was difficult to narrow it down to just five of the best running shoes, because each design is as unique and special as any runner out there. But we picked the ones which made the biggest impact and ranked high among the athletes in our region. This is our Running Shoes review of 2017.

Nike Air VaporMax

Nike running shoes Dubai

The first Nike Air VaporMax launched on Air Max Day early this year and it was big news. With a Flyknit construction, no real midsole between the foot and the ground, except for the full-length Air sole, wearing this shoe is as close to running on air. The strategic Air units were designed after designers worked closely with athletes – therefore placing cushioning in areas needing it most. The result? An exceptionally comfortable ride, with additional colourways and a new upper that followed.

adidas UltraBoost X

adidas running shoes Abu Dhabi

Here’s a shoe women love because of its floating arch that conforms perfectly to female feet. The Boost cushioning creates a great surface area for a powerful response upon impact; the Primeknit upper allows a snug fit, while and Stretchweb outsole with Continental™ Rubber provides durable traction. Highly rated by runners who enjoy its super lightweight construction and versatility as a premier road running shoe.

ASICS GEL-Kayano 24

ASICS running shoes

Industry pioneer ASICS has been creating upgraded versions of the GEL-Kayano since its inception in 1993. This year, the 24th road shoe model is a sure showstopper. The features that stood out were the MetaClutch heel counter that adds support and improves the fit, and the PLUS3™ system of additional 3mm for the women’s version to help relieve Achilles tendon strain. It’s a well thought out shoe that has unmatched comfort backed by sports science.

Under Armour SpeedForm Gemini 3 Record-Equipped

Under Armour running shoes

You’ve heard of smart watches, well, now we have smart shoes. Under Armour launched early this year their first line and now award-winning digitally “connected footwear” powered by the UA mobile and MapMyRun technology. With a built-in sensor inside the shoe, you can track your run progress and store your metrics without even carrying your phone on your run. The engineered mesh upper, seamless sockliner comfort and Charged Cushioning foam guarantees comfort and performance.

PUMA Speed Ignite Netfit

PUMA running shoes UAE

It’s hard to get it wrong with a running shoe endorsed by the fastest man on earth, sprinter Usain Bolt. The athlete announced his retirement this year, but not before showing the world what the new PUMA Netfit, with its customisable lacing system, can do during his training sessions. It offers different lacing styles to accommodate every individual’s shoe needs and running style. The evoKNIT technology and EVA sockliner moulds to your foot, while the redesigned Chevron flex grooves ensure a flexible push off with great traction.

Going over our list of ground-breaking shoes for 2017 has got all excited for the next year’s releases of running shoes. So if running comes into your list of New Year’s resolutions, then shop now with sssports.com or through our mobile app. Subscribe below for more updates.
