The Semi-Finalists of Euro 2016

Could the Euro 2016 get any more intense? It’s been a hard fought battle between the best of the best from Europe, but only the finest four have managed to qualify for the semi-finals. Through sheer determination, team effort, individual talent and a hint of luck, these four teams have deservedly booked their place in the Euro 2016 semi-finals and we can’t wait to see them face off for the spot in the finals!

Germany and Italy locked horns in what was supposed to be an early Euro 2016 final, but that wasn’t quite how the fans saw it. An almost dead match with lucky goals from Mesut Ozil through a deflected pass and a penalty spot kick from a handball ensured that the match ended 1-1 with penalties left as a decider. After a dreadful succession of penalty kicks from either side, the match finally ended in Germany’s favour with a 6-5 win, taking them to the Semi-Finals of the Euro 2016 to face France who obliterated Iceland in a 5-2 match of epic proportions. France opened up on the front foot and never let up by scoring four goals in the first half with Giroud, Payet, Griezmann & Pogba all on the score-sheet. Iceland tried to make a comeback in the second half by scoring a goal through Sigthorsson but that was short-lived as Giroud scored a towering header to restore the four goal lead. Iceland did get a consolation goal towards the 84^th minute in the form of a Bjarnason header, which ended the game 5-2. Iceland may have lost the cup but they’ve won several hearts with their performance and dedication at Euro 2016. France is through to the semi-finals and will face off against Germany in what is set to be a seriously hot contest between two powerhouses of the tournament. France has dominated the recent history between the two sides, going 6-2-1 in their nine meetings dating back to 1990 – but Germany are world champions and were the ones to kick out France from the 2014 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals. Will France exact revenge for being kicked out from the previous World Cup tournament? Or will Germany try to better its record against France?

Facing off Portugal in the Semi-Finals of the Euro 2016, Wales are looking to make history by getting themselves a place in the finals. But it’s going to be a tough mountain to climb as Portugal is a strong side and Ronaldo has been waiting to add an international title to his name, unlike his rival, Leo Messi.
