With the racing season under way, newbie and veteran runners are gearing up for the biggest run events of the year – including the annual Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon happening on January 26th. Apart from training, nutrition and mental preparation, a runner’s other arsenal is a dependable shoe that can do the job.
Under Armour is committed to helping people train better, work smarter and live better through the unique “DNA” of its apparel and footwear range. Recently, the Baltimore-based brand has put focus on developing and strengthening every runner’s stride. We have already seen innovation in leaps and bounds from its running portfolio, like the introduction of the Record Equipped smart shoes. Now, UA goes brawny and technical with a new cushioning technology that can literally go the distance. Under Armour proudly introduces the advanced HOVR foam built into the new Phantom and Sonic running shoes.
Cushioning is the backbone of any running shoe, and Under Armour has come up with a new system to minimise impact while increasing energy return. Created in partnership with Dow Chemical, the HOVR technology is a compound of pure infused soft foam with firmer exterior foam wrapped in dynamic Threadborne textile called Energy Web, and further encased in a cut-out midsole. This maximises energy return, responsiveness and stability. Together with the SpeedForm 2 sockliner, which is layered PU foam and OrthoLite placed under and around the foot, you are guaranteed comfort for miles.
The HOVR Phantom is among the first in the HOVR series. The Phantom is striking with its 5/8 knitted collar that adapts to ankle movement. The upper is engineered with Threadborne™ knit and reinforced with Dyneema, the world’s strongest fibre, on the forefoot, instep and collar cuff. Plus, the heel counter ensures stable support ideal for neutral foot strike.
The Phantom’s silhouette takes inspiration from previous SpeedForm running silhouettes, but this shoe is modelled off cycling chamois or the padding for performance cycling shorts. It has a 3D-moulded panel with laser perforated textile, ventilation and strategic padding of foam and silicone for all around comfort. The outsole has a blown rubber forefoot and high abrasion heel crashpad with a knobbed texture for better traction. The HOVR Phantom is uniquely an Under Armour product that leads with style and backs it up with function.
Apart from the cushioning, athletes who’ve tested the shoe have also noted the HOVR Phantom’s durability and smooth transitioning from gym surface to hard ground; and from slow pace to faster sprints.
Running is in the Under Armour DNA and its new line of shoes is equipped with the brand new HOVR cushioning technology can take you to the finish line in comfort. Be among the first to wear the Under Armour HOVR Phantom Shoe, available for men and women in different colourways at Sun & Sand Sports online and app.
