The power of imagination and creation is infinite, and that holds true for shoes like the PUMA Ignite Netfit. Just recently, PUMA released their latest innovation that is meant to revolutionise the way we lace our sneakers and control our running flow. How many times have we bought shoes that although perfect for our running or training needs, might be a little wide or narrow in the toe box? The Netfit technology aims to address that problem with a simple but clever customisable system that offers “infinite lacing styles” for all kinds of runners.
The talent of the PUMA Netfit shoe comes with the unique high-grade netted mesh that wraps the entirety of the upper and cages the form-fitting evoKNIT base. The large holes of the net are durable, and combined with the flat laces, offer a tailored lock down. The idea is you can thread the laces through the mesh however way you want them for a personalised fit and style. Altogether, it creates a dynamic fit system.
Even the “fastest man on the planet”, Usain Bolt, enjoys this technology that helps him gain more speed while training ahead of the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London this August. As part of the PUMA family, the Jamaican sprinter will be wearing shoes with NetFit technology during the competition, which will be his last before retirement.
No two runner is alike, and the NetFit system allows five lacing options to suit all types of foot and running gait. There are the Standard, Stability, Wide Foot, Narrow Foot and Heel Support. The Standard is the basic lacing for a typical lockdown, where the laces sit atop the upper. The Stability has an asymmetrical lacing that goes through the holes closer to the inner part of the foot near the outsole. This adds medial support, which is ideal for runners who over-pronate or those whose feet roll more inwardly.
The Wide Foot, as the name suggests, is for those who have wider feet and needs extra room. Keep the lacing narrow and close to the eyelet atop the foot for more space and reduced irritation zones. The Narrow Foot is the opposite, the lacing position should be extended nearer the outsole to bring it all in. This provides additional upper support for those with slimmer feet and it prevents slippage. For those who prefer a tighter heel fit, the Heel Support lacing must be tied to the top with lock-and-crossover technique to secure the feet. Other combinations depends on your creativity.
The PUMA Speed Ignite NetFit Running Shoe is equipped with EVA sockliner underfoot for moulded comfort, while the full-length foam midsole gives superior energy return with every stride. The redesigned chevrons on the outsole are aggressive. It’s bendable but snaps right back giving the athlete needed propulsion.
If you always wanted to design your own running footwear, then having a pair of PUMA NetFit shoes takes you closer to that goal.
