Sun & Sand Sports was proud to unveil the new collaboration between Vans and Zoo Skatepark at the launch event earlier this week. Run by the Ignite Xtreme group, the skatepark features a series of ramps from beginner to advanced level and caters to a wide range of ages, from 4 years old right up to adults. Unlike a lot of other skateparks, Zoo is a space for progression – so kids can start young and work their way up by challenging themselves to hit the ramps, mount the rails and put their board skills to the test.
As an indoor venue, Zoo encapsulates the grungy skater vibe and houses it all in a warehouse space located in Al Quoz, and it will be a great way to stay out of the heat once we move into the hotter months in Dubai. The industrial setting is the perfect backdrop for the urban skater scene, along with graffiti walls and a DJ deck pumping out tunes in the background.
The launch event saw a number of familiar faces from the local skater scene including Nabeel Merchant @nabeel.freesoul, Adam Sahlstedt @adam_dubai, and Brad Kirr @skateparc who showed us their moves on the ramps and mingled with the skater crowd that evening. For those looking to put a personal spin on their pair of Vans shoes, there was a customisation zone where local artist Sania Mussinova @polkadot_dxb was putting paint to canvas for a truly unique style statement.
We’re excited to see what’s next for Vans X Zoo Skatepark and will be keeping you updated on everything related to skateboarding in Dubai. See the latest range of products from Vans at the Sun & Sand Sports online store.
